Hamas is no different than WWII Nazis and I fully support Israel’s commitment to neutralize them,
I want to salute Israel and celebrate the elimination of Yahya Sinwar—a necessary move for any future enduring peace. Eliminating the mastermind of the 10/7 massacre is the definition of justice served. My vote and my voice for Israel will not waver,
Sinwar and Hamas were responsible for the deaths of many Americans over the years, including the more than 40 Americans slain on October 7th and the murdered American hostages Itay Chen, Gad Haggai, Judy Weinstein Haggai, and Hersh Goldberg Polin,
I reject all pressure to push Israel into a ceasefire without Hamas neutralized or their full surrender. They will be held accountable and I fully support it,
Stop pretending Hamas has any interest in true peace. I remain standing with Israel in its right to eradicate Hamas and strongly reject any international pressure, interference, or commentary."
I am celebrating the death of Sinwar, who has brought us nothing but harm, who has taken people hostage,
I’m not especially optimistic that Prime Minister Netanyahu and his coalition will do this. Another Israeli government might, but they just haven’t... demonstrated a real interest in this track,
Hamas will have to decide on a new leader
I think the hardliners in the government now also have enough of a boost to say: we can go all the way, and sacrificing the hostages along the way,
The list of known Hamas leaders is growing increasingly thin, with Haniyeh, Mohammed Deif (ex-military leader) and Marwan Issa (Deif's deputy) all reported dead in the past months
Muhammad, Sinwar's brother, or Khaled Meshaal, are seen as likely successors
I very much think that this now allows Netanyahu to focus much more on Iran, and even potentially to draw capacity away to other theatres.
Even if you degrade the core of the network, the network itself will likely continue fighting
There have been these brief moments in history when we celebrate the death of a monster, and we've seen it with Hitler, we saw it with Bin Laden
There is a proposal from President Biden and others as to what such a ceasefire could look like and we fully support that."
But for now, it’s very unlikely that Sinwar’s assassination (will result in) an end to the hostilities.”
But in order for Netanyahu to take it, he's also going to have to take a strategic position about how the war ends, and he hasn't quite shown a readiness to do that,
It does create a succession question, which will give us some answers as to what the organisation as a whole would like to do in the future,
These militant groups accept that they're going to lose their leaders as part of their war strategy,
Now, do we know if they’ll go back to a dual leadership structure between a political and military wing?”
