I did a lot of work to bring her to life, I knew everything about her, and I was able to just very easily slip into that character and feel all the things she was feeling."
In a time in which the world can feel very divided, this is more important than ever,
If you’re trying to make independent films, please keep doing it. We need more. This is proof,
We made this film as Palestinians and Israelis because, together, our voices are stronger,
About two months ago, I became a father, and my hope to my daughter [is] that she will not have to live the same life I am living now, always fearing settlers, violence, home demolitions and forcible displacements that my community is living and tasting every day under Israeli occupation,
I want to thank the Academy for recognizing a truly independent film,
He said I looked like his 18-year-old daughter and then he bought five dances from me,
All of the incredible people, the women, that I've had the privilege of meeting from that community has been one of the highlights of this... entire incredible experience."
I'm trying to capture a truth, and usually show as close to reality as I can get. And that almost always needs humor,
Well, at least he bought the dances,
Long live independent film!”
I’m here once again to represent the lingering traumas and the repercussions of war and systematic oppression and of antisemitism and racism and othering,
I’m the first black man to receive the costume design award,
Thank you to my cats and dogs,
I am a proud child of immigrant parents with dreams and dignity and hard-working hands,
I have no idea how I got here, ... I’ve just been acting my whole life.”
Where did we fall in love with the movies? At the movie theater,
I cannot find any comedy in this film. I perhaps chuckled once or twice but people are calling this a full on comedy, and to me it's like categorizing The Bear as a comedy. There are funny moments, but if this is meant to be a comedy, it's lost on me."
Of the 10 films in contention, RaMell Ross' epic and intimate Nickel Boys would be the worthiest victor in my eyes, but sadly it has absolutely no chance of winning. This race is now primarily between Conclave, which scooped the top honors at the BAFTAs and SAGs, and feels like a centrist, consensus pick, and Anora."
I love it because it pulls emotions of happiness, suspense, sadness all in one movie. It made me laugh a lot and it made me tear up at the end. Very few movies have that capability with me. I find Bakers transitions to be very well done causing the film to be very immersive and smooth."
