After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement. This Agreement is until April 2nd,
Of course, this took us by surprise and it was not what we hoped for, but the key word here is adaptation,
It’s important to explain that this decision is being taken unilaterally by the U.S. government,
At this point, there are no immediate reactions from exporters,
The tariffs will have severe repercussions in the region generating inflation, loss of jobs and lower growth for the three countries,
Mexicans are brave and resilient — the people of Mexico are strong, and our economy is doing well,
What the chambers of commerce are applauding is the way the president has handled this,
We have our plan, which we’ll announce on Sunday,
It’s business as usual, honestly — considering it’s going to be delayed a month, what’s to say it’s not going to be delayed six months or more?”
I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping Illegal Aliens from entering the United States and, likewise, stopping Fentanyl. Thank you to President Sheinbaum for your hard work and cooperation!"
Canada has done an enormous amount, they’ve offered us an enormous amount of work on fentanyl and so is Mexico,
When the real estate market is booming, people believe that they are very rich. If people believe that they're rich, they tend to spend their income on consumption. But with the decrease in the price of housing in most parts of China, people believe that they're no longer as rich as before, so (...) they want to increase their savings and reduce their consumption."
China's economy faces uncertainty as U.S. tariffs hit; S&P Global sees GDP growth slowing to 4.1 percent in 2025 (...) China's stimulus measures should support economic growth, but we expect its economy to be hit by U.S. trade tariffs on its exports."
If the U.S. dramatically reduces demand for China-produced goods, and cuts off paths for transshipment, it would undeniably have a meaningful impact,
The movement of these products has been stopped with the hope that one day, one day soon... there will be an agreement to lift the tariffs on these goods,
It's extremely concerning... I think our city, as well as the country, should look towards more market diversification,
Retaliation here isn’t just about tit-for-tat tariffs. It’s about defending the country’s independence,
How do you negotiate a stable agreement when one party is consistently changing the rules or imposing new tariffs without warning?”
In Canada’s case, Trudeau noted that Trump’s actions are aimed at crippling the Canadian economy to pave the way for an eventual annexation, which goes beyond a mere trade war,
Even if some tariffs get lifted or eased, the bigger issue is that Canada and others now view the US as a less reliable trade partner,
